Meatless Mondays. Yesterday we posted an article about reasons to eat more veggies and less meat. However, this concept can be quite daunting to most.

A lot of people say that they’re concerned they won’t get enough protein into their diet. Right off the bat i can tell you the average person tends to consume more protein in a day than their body needs, so this is really a non-issue. But when you get down to the serious talk of the matter, most people are just not willing to give up their favourite foods, and that is a concept i can completely understand.

I LOVE mac n’ cheese. when my husband and i decided to become vegan i thought there was no more reason to live. how was i going to enjoy life without cheese?! this was a totally foreign concept to me. but after some weeks of experimenting, i was able to find appetizing substitutes, and am now able to enjoy my favourite foods once again with a slight change.

Good news is you don’t have to give up your favourite flavours. Most of what we love about our favourite meal is the seasoning. The enticing smokiness of mesquite bbq, or the heat and multiple layers of a good curry. It’s all in the flavour combinations and seasoning.

Try making your favourite recipe but use veggies instead of meat. for example, if your family likes tacos, substitute the ground meat for chopped mushrooms with walnuts, or potatoes. Season exactly as you would the meat, and add all your toppings as usual! Making vegetarian food is not complicated, but you have to be willing to try something different.

You don’t have to become a vegetarian, but try a veggie meal one day for the week, or one meal for the week. It can be your meatless-monday, or faceless-friday or any other day that suits your schedule, you have 21 meal times to choose from!
