i am a canadian-born trinidadian, and i LOVE to cook. cooking has been one of my main passions my entire life. when i was young i wanted to be a chef, but my mom said “have you ever see a thin chef? you’re not going to be a chef, you’ll get too fat!” so i never became a chef, but i did get fat, until I changed my eating habits a few years ago.
long story short, as i was saying, i love to cook, i show my love for people through my food. I am a most-of-the-time vegan, 100% vegetarian, therefore all meals prepared are as such. With the exception of one person, all of my other customers are non-vegetarian. The feed back I’ve received thus far is – “I had no idea vegetarian food could be so tasty and filling!”, or “if I were to ever be on death row, I would want my last meal to be prepared by you!” That last comment from from a good friend who likes to joke like that 🙂
i was inspired by my sister-in-law and brother-in-law to reach out to people who have cancer, MS and other debilitating illnesses, who need to consume a certain diet, in order to stave off their symptoms and/or fight their illness, but have neither the physical strength nor capability nor time to cook the food themselves.
Since starting i thought i should not limit myself to who i can provide meals for. many people want to eat in a more healthy manner, but don’t know where to begin, which foods are better than others, which combinations work best when substituting one thing for another, as well as, with their incredibly busy schedules, don’t have the time to plan, shop and prep everyday to live a healthier lifestyle.
then there are those, like me and my husband, who needed to loose weight for health concerns, as well as others who suffer with diabetes, high cholesterol, fatty liver, heart conditions, high blood pressure, etc. all of these ailments can improve with a healthy diet.
