ABOUT KI
About Me
Why Ki's (pronounced "key"), and not Kiran's Kitchen? When my little brother was growing up and learning to speak, he could not pronounce my name. He started calling me "ki", and it caught on with all our family and friends. I discovered that I like to cook at a very young age. Everyday, when my brother would come home from school, the first thing he would say to me was "ki, I'm hungry, can you make me a sandwich?" And that's how my love for cooking began. The name Ki's Kitchen, is dedicated to my little brother. If I didn't have him to nag me to feed him while growing up, I would have never discovered how much I love showing my love for others by cooking for them. My other passion is helping others. I was inspired by my loved ones to reach out to people who have Cancer, Multiple Sclerosis, Diabetes and other debilitating illnesses. I learned to prepare food for people who need to consume a certain diet, in order to stave off their symptoms and/or help fight their illness, but have neither the physical strength, capability nor time to cook for themselves.Ki's philosophy
At Ki’s Kitchen, we know that not everyone has the time to prepare a healthy, preservative-free, non-commercialized meal every night. We take the stress out of mealtime for you by doing all the shopping, chopping and preparation needed to create healthy Cancer-fighting, MS-fighting, Diabetic friendly lunches and dinners. To remove as much stress as possible from your mealtime we also deliver right to your place of work or residence. Our meals are inspired by the guidelines set by the Anti-angiogenesis diet (Cancer fighting diet - found at eattobeat.org), the MS diet (found at swankmsdiet.org), the low Glycemic Index diet (found at Canadian Diabetes Association – diabetes.ca), and the Heart&Stroke diet. All meals are 100% plant-based vegan, non-GMO, peanut and egg-free, and gluten-free (where possible). We purchase seasonal vegetables, using as much organic produce and from local farmers as possible. Produce is purchased one to two days before cooking to ensure freshness. We use organic cold pressed extra virgin olive oil or organic coconut oil as the main fat source when needed. Pink Himalayan salt or Braggs Liquid Aminos are our salt sources. Sugar is rarely used, but when needed we sparingly use organic brown Demerara sugar.Every bite was delicious! Our dinner was full of healthy ingredients combined in different dishes that complimented each other beautifully! It was very flavourful and a little bit of spice! Delivered to us in Pickering and free from my allergens...wow! Thank you so much for doing this Ki's Kitchen
